Satski is set to revolutionise skiing holidays. This ‘must have’ ski gadget enables skiers to navigate the piste, record their day on the slopes and speed levels all from their pocket.
Satski is a touch screen colour GPS system which uses ‘real time’ while on the piste to plot user’s routes and guide skiers and boarders of all different levels around the resort, providing an easy to use, interactive piste map.
Suitable for everyone, Satski enables beginner and intermediate skiers to plan a full day out on the piste avoiding black and red runs and enabling them to navigate with ease to preferred restaurants and locations around the mountain all in “Real Time”.
More experienced and competitive skiers can plot harder runs and measure their speed and terrain covered, while all the time providing your statistics on speed, distance covered, altitude, ascents and descents and much more.
Satski allows users to plot routes from point A to Point B avoiding the runs you don’t like and at the same time will provide animations of the route you have chosen providing information such as, time the route will take, distance of route and more.
The Satski display will show the users’ current location on the piste, replays previous runs or the full day skiing at a press of a button. Satski also includes useful information on local points of interest on the mountain like restaurants and lifts. Whilst tracking ‘live’ statistics on the piste, the Satski receives GPS signals constantly to allow users to navigate themselves in ‘real time’.
Emergency Feature
This feature provides crucial information for those in need of help and assistance from rescue services. At the press of a tab the Satski software will allow the user in an emergency situation to send their exact location coordinates to Mountain rescue/ Piste security (Longitude and Latitude) as well as their mobile phone number.
Resort Specific Software
Satski software has resort specific information contained in the system providing the user with names, photos and telephone numbers of places of interest in each resort. Satski has green activation nodes on the ski trail/piste maps which when touched will show information of what is at the exact points, such as mountain restaurants with photos for easy identification and telephone number tabs to press which allow for direct connection to book your favourite restaurant!
The resort information includes the following emergency services, doctors, police, fire services, tourist information, restaurants, ski hire shops, ski schools, hotel information, transport services information and much more ……
Instant Messages
Satski GPS/GPRS software allows the user to receive updates on the following:
Current weather, snow forecasts, conditions of ski runs/pistes, ski lifts open/closed etc.
“What’s On": Messages about what’s happening in your resort on the day such as après ski promotions and more...
Camera
The Satski mobile application allows the user to take photos during the day on the mountain and data is downloaded to Stats Viewer the photos will integrate into the replay.
Real Time Replays
Replay your route throughout the day. Review the slopes you have skied and lifts you have used. See how far you have travelled, Satski GPS will even tell you your top and average speed, altitudes, ascents, descents and much more.
Satski automatically stores all your days skiing and statistics allowing you to replay with the Satski Stats Viewer software when you get home.
Buddy Tracking
This feature allows users to track and see where their friends and family are on the mountain in “real time". By mutual consent the Satski GPRS Ski software facilitates link ups allowing mutual tracking of friends, family and loved ones. The buddy tracking feature lets you link–up in seconds.
Stats Viewer
For Satski GPS and Mobile application users, please note the resort maps are available for download via Stats Viewer. Stats Viewer even allows the user to send the 3D Google Earth replay to friends and family. Download a free version of Satsports Stats Viewer below.
Google Earth 3D
The Google Earth replay provides a 3D history of the users skiing experiences, where the user can view his or her replays from a multitude of different angles, file them and watch them for years to come. You can even email your replay to friends and family very easily via Ski-Viewer.
Free Application
Free Satski resort map and software download allows you to view on your smart phone a piste/trail map of the resort and resorts specific information. As this is a free version the GPS / GPRS tracking, statistics, Real Time positioning, navigation, messaging and emergency functions are not activated. To activate these features you will have to purchase an activation code which you can initiate via your mobile phone.
Some activation codes have a limited time allowance. The time allowance will only begin when you are on the first ski lift in resort. This means you can activate your software long before you arrive in the resort and make use of all the messaging facilities such as weather forecasts, ski trail conditions, What's On in the resort and generally familiarise yourself with the system and the resort you will be visiting. Also with the navigation function you will be able to plan ski routes in advance.
To download your free map, load the Internet Explorer browser on your mobile smart phone, enter www.satski.com and follow the prompts on the screen.
The free download does not have any network provider service package costs when used abroad.
Min requirements
Currently Satski software requires mobile phones to be operating Windows Mobile. Your phone or smart phone must have GPS/GPRS facilities. Satski has been designed to work with mobile phones and PDAs which have touch screens. Currently there are some 40 mobile / PDA versions on the market ideally suited to our software, these include brands such as HTC (inc. T-Mobile branded MDA phones), Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson to name a but a few. Within the next year, the mobile phone industry has predicted that approx 80% of all phones and PDAs on the market will have the above requirements. For some people interested in Satski the cheaper option may be to upgrade your phone as opposed to buying a stand alone Satski GPS as the mobile phone downloads are cheaper.
