1. Which Windows Mobile phones are compatible for Satski downloads?
As a general rule, you can download Satski onto any mobile phone which operates Windows Mobile and has GPS-GPRS.
2. How do I download a free map to my Windows phone?
To download the FREE Satski app please follow these instructions:
- Using Internet Explorer on your phone and visit
www.satski.com which will take you to the mobile friendly website.
- Select Download Free Satski. This will download the free Satski application.
- Find the Programs folder on your phone, select the Satski icon and wait
for the application to load.
- Select a map and wait for it to load.
Remember, this is only the free Satski version. If you want the app to
provide you with live stats, record your tracks so you can replay them on
your phone or replay your tracks with Stats Viewer and Google Earth on your PC when you get
home, you must buy Satski (the full paid
version) from the Windows Marketplace or by scanning the barcode
here.
3. Will my network service provider charge me for using Satski abroad?
Your Satski app and mobile phone’s GPS run independently from your
telephone provider connection. In other words you can turn off data
roaming and wifi and have no telephone signal however but you will still
be able to use your Satski app.
Costs maybe incurred if you use the live services
(i.e. buddy tracking, Satski messages), as some foreign service
providers may charge for receiving messages/texts. This is not
common practice but should you wish to deactivate your Satski live
services you can do this in the menu section of Satski.
Please note if you delay downloading your Satski app until abroad
it is likely your service provided will charge you to access the
Internet to download Satski, so we advise to download the app before
traveling abroad to avoid this cost.
If you do wait to download your Satski app, you will need
to connect to the Internet for a few minutes to do this.
Please contact your service provided for more advise on how to
minimize telephone costs while abroad, such as turning off roaming and
Internet. Your Satski app will still work if you turn these functions off.
4. Will my Satski work if I do not have a telephone signal?
Yes it will work as the Satski app and the mobile phone’s
GPS are independent from telephone signal.
5. I have a Satski voucher. How do I
download Satski to my Windows Mobile phone?
If you have a Satski voucher, which may look similar to the image below, you have 2 options:
1. Scan the barcode which automatically reads you promotional code and will allow you to download the Satski app, or,
2. Point your mobile browser to the link and insert your discount code.

Satski vouchers are for single use only
6. Can I transfer my Satski app to another phone?
Satski downloads apply to one phone and are non transferable.
7. When I download a ski resort map which is part of a larger ski area will I get the connecting resort(s) as well?
In most cases if you are visiting a resort which is part of a
large ski area, you will get a map of the whole connected ski area.
This applies to the 3 Valleys, Espace Killy, Portes du Soleil, Ski Welt,
Whistler-Blackcomb and others. We are continually geo plotting maps so please contact us if you have any queries regarding large ski area maps.
To check your ski resort, select the resort name from the list
of available resorts and if it is part of a larger ski area map,
you may be prompted to download the map which will be named as the
larger ski area, e.g. if you select the ski resort of Courchevel,
you will be prompted to download the ski area map of 3 Vallees.
8. How can I preserve my phone's battery life?
We highly recommend that you do the following to preserve your mobile phone battery life:
- Switch off your Wifi and Bluetooth functions
- Make the screen switch off after 30 secs
- Minimise frequency and duration of phone calls
- Fully charge your mobile phone
If you follow these steps this should be sufficient to ensure you get a full
day’s battery and even enough time to watch your replays and analyse
your statistics at ‘apres’. If you are still requiring more battery then you
might want to consider purchasing a portable battery charger.
9. How do I install a map?
After downloading the Satski app, at the Satski start-up page, press Get
Resort and the list of available resorts will appear. The maps are listed
by country. Should your ski resort
belong to a larger ski area you will may be directed to download the
named map, which represents the whole ski area.
Note that installing one resort will uninstall any other resort (you can
only have one resort installed) in order to preserve your phone’s
memory.
If your ski resort is not listed then we suggest downloading the All
Sports Maps app from the Android market. We have developed the All
Sports Maps app for ski resorts not yet geo plotted by Satski as well as
for back country skiers. See more about the All Sports Maps here.
10. What is the difference between Stats Viewer and Ski Viewer?
Stats Viewer is your computer based Analytics for all Satsports GPS apps.
The Ski Viewer section is specifically for Satski analytics.
The Ski Viewer will replay your ski day on a trail (piste) map and then allow
you to connect to Google Earth to watch it in 3D too! While watching your
replay on the trail map you are provided with a minute by minute statistical
history of your day on the mountain. Such statistical information available for you to analyse includes maximum speed, average speed, total distance traveled, ascents, descents, altitudes, runs and lifts taken and much more.

16. My phone does not have GPS, but has Bluetooth. Can I still download Satski onto my phone?
Mobile phones running Windows Mobile, touch screen and Bluetooth but do not have a GPS, it is now possible to purchase any number of Bluetooth GPS devices made for mobile smart phones and PDA’s which will allow you to use the Satski application. These devices are small, neat and very effective.
17. I have a PDA with GPS but without Internet connection. How can I download and activate Satski?
If your PDA cannot access the Internet but has GPS, then you will need to download the free Satski app to your phone following the steps in option 1 or 2 for WinMob by clicking here.
Once you have the free Satski app installed please email your device ID to technical@satski.com. You can find your device ID from the Satski software, next to where you need to enter your activation code.
18. How did I record an abnormally high speed?
Your speed is determined by the information your phone’s GPS provides to the app. Sometimes GPS signal may drop. This can be due to a number of reasons, e.g. realignment of satellite, reflection of GPS signal in narrow valleys. This may cause your location to suddenly shout from one point to another. Because the app calculates mathematically this will reflect in an abnormally high speed. We have tried within reason to ensure that such occurrences are not taken into consideration however sometimes this is not possible.
19. Can AGPS (Assisted GPS) affect my true tracking results?
Yes it can because on some phones depending on service provider signal strength the AGPS will and can for short periods of time override the phones GPS positioning. And as a result you will see and experience erratic movement in your tracking. A solution to this could be for you to turn off your AGPS and only run the phone’s GPS. On some phones this may lead to more constant tracking results.
