2. What is my activation code for?

Your activation code will “unlock” your installed Satsports Software to convert it from the free demo to the full version of the software and unlock all the features. The activation process requires that your phone is connected to the Internet, either through GRPS/3G or Wi-Fi.

If you buy an application from the Satsports website, your activation code will be emailed to you. Please also check your junk email box for your activation code.

3. How can I increase my mobile phone battery life?

We highly recommend that you do the following to protect your mobile phone battery life:

  • Switch off your Wifi and Bluetooth functions
  • Make the screen switch off after 30 secs
  • Minimise frequency and duration of phone calls
  • Fully charge your mobile phone

4. Can AGPS (Assisted GPS) affect my true tracking results?

Yes it can because on some phones depending on service provider signal strength the AGPS will and can for short periods of time override the phones GPS positioning. And as a result you will see and experience erratic movement in your tracking. A solution to this could be for you to turn off your AGPS and only run the phone’s GPS. On some phones this may lead to more constant tracking results.

5. Will my network service provider charge me for using Satsports-Log abroad?

Your Satsports-Log app and mobile phone’s GPS run independently from your telephone provider connection. In other words you can have no telephone signal however you will be able to use your Satsports-Log app with the GPS of your phone.

Please note if you delay downloading your Satsports-Log app until abroad it is likely your service provided will charge you to access the Internet to download Satsports-Log, so we advise to download the app before traveling abroad to avoid this cost.

If you do wait to download your Satsports-Log app, you will need to connect to the Internet for a few minutes to do this.

Please contact your service provided for more advise on how to minimize telephone costs while abroad, such as turning off roaming and Internet. Your Satsports-Log app will still work if you turn these functions off.

6. Will my Satsports-Log work if I do not have a telephone signal?

Yes it will work as the Satsports-Log software and the mobile phone’s GPS are independent from telephone signal.

7. I have a PDA with GPS but without Internet connection. How can I download Satsports-Log?

If your PDA cannot access the Internet but has GPS, then you will need to download the free Satsports-Log app to your phone following the steps in option 1 or 2 for WinMob by clicking here.

Once you have the free Satsports-Log app installed please email your device ID to technical@satski.com. You can find your device ID from the Satsports-Log software, next to where you need to enter your activation code

8. My phone does not have GPS, but has Bluetooth. Can I still download Satsports-Log onto my phone?

Mobile phones running Windows Mobile, touch screen and Bluetooth but do not have a GPS, it is now possible to purchase any number of Bluetooth GPS devices made for mobile smart phones and PDA’s which will allow you to use the Satsports-Log application. These devices cost from around £20.00, they are small, neat and very effective.

9. How did I record an abnormally high speed?

Your speed is reliant on your phones GPS / GPRS. If your phone does not have a strong GPS, or AGPS, and signal is lost, the period between loss of GPS signal, will make the Satsports-Log app calculate in an abnormally high and unrealistic speed. We try to filter this out over short periods but longer periods of loss of GPS signal will result in excessive speeds being recorded.

9. How does the scoring system work?

One of the unique benefits of Satsports is the scoring system which allows you to compare your performances over time, between different routes, users, regardless of who, where or what conditions. In other words you can go on a 10 mile cycle on a hilly route and compare directly with a 50 mile cycle on a flat route. The main idea of the scoring system is to monitor your progress in any sport, particularly cycling and running.

The scoring system applies differently for each sport but a score of 1000 in any activity is good. Please use the following as a guide:

Club Athlete 1000 Elite 1300 Olympic 1600

Cycling In cycling a score of 1000 represents a speed of 30 km/h (18.7mph) over a flat course with no wind on a road bike for 30km. Therefore, the further you cycle the slower you have to go to score the same 1000 - so if you cycle 60km (on the flat) then you would score 1000 points for each 28.5km/h. Alternatively, the shorter your cycle route then you will need to be faster to achieve the same 1000 score. If you inform the system of hills, wind, equipment and terrain you are allocated more time to achieve the same score. The scores are all relative, so if you are 10% quicker the you will score 10% more points.

Running Running is similar to cycling in that you are expected to complete any given course at a certain speed to achieve 1000 points. However the parameters and influences are very different in running that cycling - so the actual calculations differ.

Hiking The scoring system for hiking doesn't take into account the speed - it is more about the distance, altitude gained and terrain covered.

10. Can I see the formula for the scoring system?

No - Our scoring system is secret.

11. Does Satsports change my Google Earth settings?

Yes so you can enjoy the best flyovers. You can switch this off in the settings.

12. Google Earth crashes during the flyover - why?

Satsports Google Earth output files can be very complex, and occasionally, depending on your hardware performance, this can cause Google Earth to 'overload'.

We recommend the following course of action if this happens:
1. In Google Earth click on Tools, Options.
2. Select the 3D view tab and in the texture box select High Colour ( 16 bit) and make sure that the compress box is not ticked.
3. Return to Google Earth - you shouldn't actually notice any decrease in image quality but the flyovers will be much smoother!

13. What is the Navi icon on the GPS splash screen?

This icon is used if you have a street navigation SD card for either Western Europe or North America. You can purchase a street navigation card from Satsports. In your box, you will already have a car bracket.

14. Where can I purchase a street navigation SD card for my Satsports Multi-sports GPS?

Please contact us to order a compatible street navigation SD card compatible for your Satsports Multi-sports GPS for either Western Europe or North America.
